Search engines’ reaction to you improves when you publish relevant content

Quality content is the number one engine of your search engine rankings, and there is no substitute for great content. Quality content created specifically for the intended user to increase website traffic, which improves the authority and relevance of your site.

Define the keyword phrase for each page. Think about how the reader might search for that particular page (with phrases such as “Michigan Mechanical Engineering,” “Best Applied Physics Program”, or “Michigan Tech Degree”). Then, repeat this phrase several times throughout the page, once or twice in the opening and closing paragraphs, and two to four more times throughout the remaining content.
Don’t forget to use bold, italic, orientation tags, and other focus tags to highlight keyword phrases, but don’t overdo it.
Never sacrifice good writing for SEO. The best pages are written for the user, not for the search engine.

Content update regularly
You’ve probably noticed that we feel very strongly about content. Search engines don’t, too. Regularly updated content is seen as one of the best indicators of a site’s suitability, so be sure to keep it fresh.

When designing your website, every page contains a space between the <head> tags to enter metadata, or information about the contents of your page. If you have a CMS website, the UMC web team will be pre-populating this data for you:
Metadata title
The metadata title is responsible for the titles of the pages displayed at the top of the browser window. This is the most important definition on your page. For those with a CMS website, the web team has developed an automated system to create the metadata address for each web page.
Meta description
A metadata description is a textual description that a browser will use in your return search page. Also consider offering one window describing your site brief and appealing from what’s inside, with the aim of encouraging people to enter.
Meta keywords are the search phrases that type of people want to find on your page. You’ll want to include a variety of phrases. However, do not get greedy: if your list becomes excessive, the browser may completely ignore the data. As a general rule, try to keep him around 6-8 phrases with each phrase consisting of 1-4 words. A great example would be a “Computer Science Degree.”
